Okay, so I've defined what my game is going to be but now I need more ideas...

A little Help in the Game...


I've been thinking that it may be too hard for someone to just memorize all the information needed to complete the game, so I'm going to make something like a clickable icon in the corner of the screen that will open up a scroll with all the information you need.

In the last stage there will probably be no option to open "the scroll", because you will have been expected to know everything already.

Mistakes aren't Good


Another idea is to punish the player for making mistakes. What I'm going to do is cause explosions when someone makes a mistake if they're making a concoction. For example, if you're meant to add iron, and click the wrong thing, the experiment will go horribly wrong and explode. Although this may not be scientifically correct, I'm going to do it anyway.

Depending on the level, you may not be able to make as many mistakes, and in the final level, you will not be able to make mistakes at all.


Levels


So, I have discussed that there may be a level system. But I think I need to work on the level system. I think it might be a little harsh to punish the player by making him play the game again to get to the last level, so I'll probably just make them go back to the previous stage.

Once again, the last stage will probably be harder, and you'll probably go back a few stages.

Talking to People


I have an idea that involves violence... sort of. When you talk to people, you press the spacebar to start talking. When you press the spacebar, invisible bullets will shoot the person and cause them to talk. It sounds weird, but I've tried it and it works.

Focus...


I've decided to entirely focus on working to discover which symbols mean what, so I don't think chemical equations will play a huge part.

You can download a file that allows you to try and talk to moogles. It's kind of funny doing everything.
